.Sunfest Tennis Tournament a SMASH
The fourth annual Sunfest Fun Tennis Tournament was successful once again. We had
22 participants in our one day event competing in doubles events with Men’s Doubles,
Ladies Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. The Father and son team of Randy and Graeme
Veitch came out on top in the Men’s event. In the Ladies, it was Linda Chmielewski and
Pat West in the winner column. Pat West shared another win, this time with her mixed
doubles partner, Norm Koerber. Everyone left a winner however as we did a random
prize draw during the lunch break.
A thunder storm created a short rain delay in the middle of the day, but with brooms and
squeegees in hand the competitors took turns drying the courts. Thank goodness the sun
returned and play resumed.
We want to thank our sponsors, Tim Hortons for the great lunches and the gift cards we
used for some of the prizes. Also, we want to acknowledge, Kootenay Valley Water who
provided us with much needed bulk chilled water again this year. For tennis enthusiasts
who missed our event, plan on joining us next year.
